About Brett
I have had a lifelong passion for being with others through their struggles, sorrows, and joys. I am interested in all aspects of people's lives including relationship with self and others, work, family, spirituality, and creativity, and am deeply committed to supporting others in living their truest lives.
My education and work in several fields—health education, organizational development, and psychology—have focused on human experience and development. Health education taught me the process of change, particularly the cognitive and behavioral aspects. As an organizational consultant, I advanced my knowledge and skills in human interactions by providing team development and change management consultation. In becoming a therapist, I deepened my understanding of human development to include the spiritual and somatic levels.
I maintain a private practice as a psychotherapist and coach. In addition, as the Director of Coaching at the Center for the Health Professions at the University of California at San Francisco, I coach health care leaders and teach leadership courses, including Difficult Conversations and Emotional Intelligence at Work. I have coached clinical and non-clinical health care professionals at organizations including Kaiser-Permanente, San Francisco General Hospital, Genentech, and community clinics throughout California.
