Business Partners
Many of us spend a significant amount of time working. Our work relationships, therefore, are an integral part of our daily life. Work may also be a primary source of personal relationships, a place where we develop friendships, meet partners, or find a sense of family. Given the closeness of these relationships, challenges can arise. We may struggle to communicate effectively, balance the professional with the personal, or make decisions collaboratively. These conflicts not only impede the work, but also impact us as people.
We may want to dismiss these conflicts as "just work issues" or attribute the problem to the other person. If we are willing, however, these conflicts can offer an opportunity to understand ourselves and each other better, expand our ways of relating, and build or rebuild a fulfilling relationship. We can improve both the quality of our work and the quality of our personal experience at work. We may also deepen those relationships that span both our professional and personal worlds.
